OK so everything is still in its rough stage blah! I’m having a little bit of a struggle with my lines. I started sketching my girls and ended up trying a thicker line and now I’m confused with how they should look. I really liked my bully and tried the same method on my girls but for some reason it was looking really off. But looking at them side by side… I think now I’m steering away from my original plan…

Here’s my “bully”, this guy is part of a school yard scene in the making. I didn’ t realize how difficult this was going to be. As much as I love this style, I know its nothing new and what I’m trying to relay just doesn’t wanna come out of these hands of mine.

Ok here’s my week #3 submission. After listening to the interview with Tara Reed I really got a great understanding of licensing and I’m really excited about trying getting to do it.
So here it goes:
Target Market Magazines/Publishers/Reps
Highlights
National Geographic Kids
Penguin
Barron’s
Cricket Magazine
Cartwheel Publishing
Nickelodeon (have a marketing contact not sure where I want to go with this one)
Little Tiger Press
Kid Shannon
MB artists
Marshall cavendish
Portfolio:being that I am targeting children’s publications as well as licensing opportunities I have 2 intentions, creating characters and creating environment. Both of these will intertwine in order to make the opportunity available to both industries, books and licensing. 1. Character Portfolio
School Character (bullies, nerds, friends, schoolyard play)
Bedtime Character (think monsters inc.)
Animal Character (Zoo, rainforest, nighttime animals, Africa) 2. Environment settings
Classroom and schoolyard Setting
Zoo Setting
Bedroom setting
Rainforest setting
The “wild” setting
I think for now I should really try to focus on these particular items as to not make myself crazy nuts trying to get too much done. Phew, see what a good glass of wine does to ya!
A few years ago my husband and I started a small tshirt business called bebeink (baby tattoos), basically we designed tattoo inspired tees for our little one because she loved our tattoos so much, now I know everyone has seen and done this but to tell you the truth we were one of the first and unfortunately we just didn’t market ourselves correctly.
Any who, we’re back and we’ll be launching new designs with something special shortly. Our creative minds hit a spark and we’re eager to begin. So stay tuned I hope you enjoy!
Today I completed my OSGM for Zero2illo, it was tougher than I thought but I did. And I didn’t realize how helpful something like this would actually be. After sitting and thinking about my goals it became clear to me how easy achieving those goals can be when you know what your end result will be. Check it out.
Illustrator, Justin Segal, has this great IF design he did for linked. You can view his image here, my daughter Rylan loved the image so much she decided to draw it ( she’s 4) check out her version. I wanted to thank Justin for inspiring Rylan today!
Since I’ve joined Zero2illo, I’ve been having a blast talking to fellow illustrators and learning about how to take the next step to becoming a professional illustrator. I started scanning in all my doodles and I’ll be posting or trying to post, my daily doodles. You can check them out here for now but I’ll also be posting them on my blog.

I haven’t updated about any of my art classes here so I figured today would be a good day to start. I have my class of 3 and 4 year olds today and we’ll be going over Abstract art. I found some information on Joan Miro who has some really cute designs that I think my little ones can relate with. Today’s lesson will consist of me calling out shapes and having the kids create their artwork with only the shapes I call. This is a fun exercise because in the end the children learn that although we’ve all been told the same thing everyone’s art work looks different.

So as an update to my post about the excitement of this 12 week challenge, I’ve given myself the time to really think about what I really want to do. I love children’s books. I’ve always had a passion for illustration, but I never gave myself the opportunity to really work with it. I’m a doodler at heart, and I love LOVE art. I can’t wait to share with everyone the adventures and artwork I produce during this challenge.
